Welcome to my ZUMBA website!If you live in the Czech Republic and want to come to my Zumba class, look at ROZVRH and choose one of my regular classes in/near Prague (pre-registration required) or sign up for one of the exciting weekend/summer events in the Czech Republic or even abroad. Zumba is a dance fitness program created by dancer & choreographer Alberto "Beto" Perez in Colombia in the 1990s. The program combines Latin and international music with dance - salsa, merengue, cumbia, reggaeton, flamenco, tango, samba, cha cha, mambo, hip hop... With experience in rhythmic gymnastics from when I was a kid, latin dances when I was a teenager, university study at the Sports Faculty at Charles University, aerobics, where I became Miss Aerobics Czech Republic in 1993, and professional experience as aerobics teacher at Charles University for several years... Zumba is what I always wanted to do - I just had to wait for somebody to invent it ;-) I became one of the first certified Zumba instructors in the Czech Republic after successfully completing a workshop in Berlin in late 2008. In early 2010, I obtained two certificates at workshops in Amsterdam in presence of Beto Perez - Zumba Basic Steps 2 and ZumbAtomic for kids. In August 2010, I attended the Zumba Instructor Convention 2010 in Orlando, Florida, USA, where I also obtained my Aqua Zumba instructor certificate. The 2011 Zumba Convention gave me the opportunity to become certified as a Zumba Toning instructor. In February 2012, I attended the first-ever European Zumba Conference in London, UK. At the 2012 Zumba Convention, I added the last two licences - Sentao and Zumba Gold - to achieve the widest possible qualification as Zumba instructor. Since 2012, I have been taking salsa lessons and attending various dance workshops. In early 2013, I extended my list of qualifications with a Port De Bras instructor certificate from Julio Papi. In May 2013, I was invited to attend the Zumba European Conference in Lille, France. Since early 2011, my events in the Czech Republic feature special guests - top-notch zumba instructors from all around Europe as well as Latin America, including Bernadett Fejzes, Javier Calderone, Alejandro Angulo. With Petra Bonich from London, we became known as "Chicas Checas" and perform at events in the Czech Republic and the UK. Other special partners include Vitor Mendes, director of Afrobailar Festival Prague and Milo Vacík, leading Czech percussist and frontman of Tam Tam Batucada band. Note for foreign students on exchange programs at the Charles University: To attend my zumba classes, you need to sign up online via the Department of Sports (KTV) of the Faculty of Philosophy (here). Capacity is limited - sign up early after registration opens! Vendula Korinkova
